It has always been important to have unbiased news sources. It is important to understand that social media is not a news source, and should not be consumed as one. Those of us who post articles on social media, share for a variety of reasons – interest, “shock and awe”, and often for affirmation of our beliefs. While it is true that anyone can unwittingly impose their viewpoints on a topic, responsible news sources will be transparent in their citations, rely on multiple sources and confirmations, correct errors and report them in a timely manner. So many want to be to first to break “the news”. Please remember to ask questions – many questions. Diversity of thought is a gift. It is how innovations come to be realized, and we can become our better selves. Our community is worth us not settling for mediocrity. Erroneous news sources have consequences and affect others lives. With that, consider this posting food for thought – read – think – question – and be responsible for your own beliefs.
