In January 2020, the GMNC began to look at how systemic racism has undermined efforts at both public and private institutions. The Black-owned business community has independently begun to invest in addressing the racial wealth gap. What is at stake is not only black-owned businesses in Boston but whether or not Boston will have minority-majority neighborhoods such as Greater Mattapan. If we do not exercise our voices by completing the Census and voting in all city, state, and federal elections, we will not be counted as mattering.
The work is not impossible; these issues are man-made; systemic harm requires a systemic change. It exists in the design of our cities, in criteria to access to capital, defunding of public schools, lack of affordable and sustainable healthy homes for those who already exist in our community.
This is a moderated forum. Our questions will come from the meeting audience and the live Facebook audience. We require pre-registration to provide the best possible experience for our guests and residents. The focus is always on solutions.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. As always, please stay safe.
Practice Physical Distancing; Remain kind. Peace.
